But when the mortals of the world began to sin against each other, Erinia began to hate the mortals she had helped create. She created natural disasters and illnesses in a fit of rage. But Adillian stepped in to help his creations. He allowed the mortals one wish, anything their heart desired. Erinia agreed to these wishes... but with one rule. Every mortal, regardless of race, is born with the same birthmark as another, in the same place on their body. In order for a mortal to have their wish granted, they must kill their linked person, their Gemina. Many Gemina wishes have been made since Adillian and Erinia's agreement. One such explains the guardian of Erinia's Shrine. Eben, a Hume of long ago, decided to build a great monument to the Goddess Erinia. He built an enormous tower, complete with spiral staircase and grand carvings of the Goddess all along the walls. Afraid that his masterpiece would be destroyed somehow, his Gemina wish was made to make him the protector of the tower for eternity. Now, he stands as a golem, forever protecting his handiwork from harm. Two other Gemina wishes resulted in the creation of areas in Tarmaq. The first was made by the Maiden Arisa. Her people lived in a wasteland, their bellies empty and hungry, their mouths dry with thirst. To save her people, Arisa's Gemina wish was that the land be made fertile forever. And so it was done. The Fields of Arisa are still green to this day. Some say her spirit lingers, tending to the fields' every need. This is why, many say, the dreamhare are so friendly and happy all the time. They love to see Arisa. The second area created by a Gemina wish is Eirwyn Forest. Eirwyn was an elf of long ago, who chose to leave the Feywood to see the world. Agree at the elves for choosing a life of solitude, she yearned for a new home. But the wood is hard for any elf to leave entirely. Her wish was for a new home, one that welcomed Waywards and Elves alike. Any other race that chose to live there was welcome as well. And so the icy trees of Eirwyn Forest were formed. |
