[atrb=style, width: 450px; -webkit-border-radius: 25px; -moz-border-radius: 25px; border-radius: 25px;][atrb=style, width: 80px; vertical-align: top;][STYLE=border: 4px solid #edc951; opacity: 0.9][/style] | [STYLE= font: bold 27px/4px arial narrow; color: edc951; width: 310px; border-bottom: 2px dotted #edc951; padding-bottom: 8px; letter-spacing:-2px;]in character rules[/style] [STYLE=width: 300; font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; border-left: 4px solid #edc951; padding: 3px; font-size: 10px; margin-top: -12px;]1;; A simple rule to follow. You can not, by any means, control another person's character. They are theirs to role play, not yours, and therefore should be written as such. If you are worried that you might have broken this rule, leave an out of character note at the bottom and we, the staff, will decide whether it's okay or not. 2;; Like above, this is a somewhat easy rule to follow. You may not make your character invincible, no matter the circumstances. Every person gets hurt no matter how powerful they are. Your character may dodge blows, but keep said action to a bare minimal. We suggest a three to one ratio. For every three hits, you may have an attack miss. 3;; Though we won't be to terribly upset with you if you stray away from this, we'd prefer this roleplaying forum to remain in past tense third person. It simply makes things slightly more uniform. If you're just too used to first or second person or present or future tense and struggle making the adjustment, we the admins will find a way to work with you, but please try to stay with past tense third person. 4;; This is a given. Unless one is closing a thread, you should always makes sure that you're writing in a way that the other person can reply to. And, even then, sometimes you'll want to post in such a manner when posting one of the last posts in a thread in case the other roleplayer still wishes to post. It's not very fun when your characters are running off or walking away right in the middle of a thread. Unless you've permission or there are more people in the thread to reply to, we suggest you refrain from leaving threads as abruptly as that. 5;; We do not have a specific word count here on No Turning Back. While we all shudder in disgust at the sheer thought of posts with merely one sentence, we also know that muses are tricky things and it's not always easy cranking out a certain number of words. We expect that you be responsible about this lack of a word count, however, and ask that you simply have one or two well structured paragraphs for every in character post at the very least. You are welcome - encouraged, even - to go as above and beyond that as you wish, however. 6;; Lastly, we ask, beg, pray that you all make good use of the wonder that is the spell check if you are prone to spelling errors or even if you just have the occasional slip. Truly, it is only there to help you. After all - typos can lead to confusion and confusion can lead to mistakes. While we won't get on you about not being absolutely perfect, we do ask that you utilize this helpful button to the best of your abilities.[/style] |
[atrb=style, width: 450px; -webkit-border-radius: 25px; -moz-border-radius: 25px; border-radius: 25px;][atrb=style, width: 80px; vertical-align: top;][STYLE=border: 4px solid #edc951; opacity: 0.9][/style] | [STYLE= font: bold 27px/4px arial narrow; color: edc951; width: 310px; border-bottom: 2px dotted #edc951; padding-bottom: 8px; letter-spacing:-2px;]out of character rules[/style] [STYLE=width: 300; font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; border-left: 4px solid #edc951; padding: 3px; font-size: 10px; margin-top: -12px;]1;; Simple. Respect others. And this means everyone - the staff, your fellow members, even guests. If someone is saying hurtful things to you, ignore them. Saying hurtful things back will only get you in trouble as well. You don't have to be the friendliest person in the world - just don't be the meanest. 2;; Keep your fighting to a minimum. We know sometimes others can irritate you a bit, but don't go picking fights left and right. Be kind to others and they'll be kind to you. And if you must fight with someone else, keep it outside the site. We don't want the chat box being flooded with hurtful comments or the out of character boards and private messages. 3;; If you will be leaving, please leave a notice on the leaving board. We can understand if it's something that comes up on a short notice, but if it's something that will keep you from role playing that you know in advance, you must let us know. You might be thought to be inactive, other wise, and risk getting your account deleted. 4;; You do not have to log in daily, but we suggest you log in at least once a week to catch up on any updates. If you have not logged in in a month or two without posting in the leaving board, the staff will decide whether to consider you inactive, which will result in the deletion of your account, or another punishment that you will receive when you return. After 3 months of inactivity, there will be no question about deleting your account. 5;; There will be no in character posts in the out of character boards unless it is for a thread in the alternate universe boards or the forum games. Other then that, keep everything out of character - that's why it's called what it is.[/style] |

If not, your character will not be accepted and denied until the problems have been fixed and your application follows the rules. 2;; Mary Sues and Gary Stus are not tolerated. Every person in real life has their strengths and weaknesses. Why shouldn't your characters be the same? When making your character, think about if their personality would be that of a person in real life. If your not sure if your character is a mary sue or not, look up a test and see if they are. If they are, then try to edit them and make them more realistic. 3;; We suggest that, during roleplay, you refrain from using more than one character in a post. Sometimes, this can grow rather confusing and throw the entire thread off. If you wish, you may switch characters by having one leave and another join. 4;; This is a one account per character forum. Therefor, you must have one account for every character and no more than that unless you are a staffer. In addition, there is a slight limit to the number of characters you may play, only one character per race please. You may use points to purchase more characters of a race if you so choose. Try to keep them all your characters active if you can. If you can't, putting characters that you feel you can no longer play up for adoption in the adoption board or simply archiving them may be a good idea.[/style] |

If you are using a weapon that can also work with a shield, you are allowed a shield as well. 2;; You may have one light armour, heavy armour, or robes; one light helm, heavy helm, or hat (magic hat or otherwise); and one shield (if you have a weapon you can use with it). 3;; Only Elves and Nymphs are allowed to learn spells, unless the character has the appropriate character upgrade. 4;; Characters may not have rifles unless they have the appropriate character upgrade. 5;; The site's currency, Tam, are earned through posts (50 Tam per post) and contest prizes. They are redeemable at the Traveling Merchant for upgrades, spells, and equipment. 6;; Experience points are awarded as the moderators deem fit at the end of a successful outcome of battle. They can also be awarded as part of contests. 7;; Stat points awarded upon level up may be distributed as the player deems fit. 8;; Either players or admins may initiate a battle within a thread. Death my not be an outcome of a battle without permission from the character's owner. Knock outs are permissible. 9;; Admins/moderators are the ones in charge of appointing damage in combat. 10;; Combat will go as follows: the first character will interact with the second character as they choose, but attacks must be implied, not carried out. Admins/mods will modify the post to show what the outcome of the attack is. Each character's end-of-post stats will be shown at the bottom of each post. The second character may then reply to the post and must respond to the outcome of the attack. 11;; Attack misses and hits will be decided by a die roll. If the admin/mod rolls a six (ranged weapons may roll a five or six), the attack will miss, no ifs, ands, or buts. If the attack hits, all stats will be taken into consideration.[/style] |

Signatures may be no wider than five hundred seventy-five pixels, but may be as tall as you wish. Any additional graphics in posts also may not be any wider than that for the sake of stretching the board. 2;; If you wish to open a graphics shop - or, at least, something of the sort - feel free to PM a staff member the information you'd like and we'll set it right up for you. 3;; As a rule, all Of The Month winners will receive 500 Tam and 500 Experience. If a specific character wins Female or Male OTM, one of the members of the Couple OTM, or even one of the members of the Thread OTM, that character automatically receives their winnings. If a member wins the Member OTM, they may choose which character receives the winnings, or even distribute them between their characters, so long as it all adds up to 500 Tam and 500 Exp. Because of these winnings, make sure to nominate and vote for who truly deserves the title of Of The Month. 4;; Have fun! That's the whole point of the site! May you enjoy your time here at No Turning Back![/style] |
